The 2006 Pro Motocross Nationals Round 3 at The Wastelands is done!

Well the big event has come and gone for another year and as usual the racers, volunteers, and employees should be proud of the quality event they helped put on. Saturday was hampered by rain and thus our spectator count was down considerably from last year, however, Sunday saw the parking areas reaching capacity by 12:30 which was the gauge many of us who have no knowledge of the financial numbers use to evaluate the potential success of any event. Every time I looked down the road there was a steady stream of cars and trucks filing into the parking areas and I was happy to see it after Saturday's lower than typical attendance. Everywhere I looked people were smiling and having fun, the sun was out and race fuel was heavy in the air.    Click here for more.

Dear Members,

We invite you to attend the Nanaimo Motocross Association Annual General Meeting held
Sunday, December 19th at 1:00 pm at Beban Park, Room # 21. We strongly encourage all members to attend this meeting.

The Agenda for this meeting includes:

1) Review of the 2004 Financial Statement
2) Election of 2005 Executive
3) Budgeting and goal setting for 2005

Please Note:

 The Association’s constitution requires that a fair representation of members be present to elect a new Executive. If there are not enough members in attendance, the meeting will be re-scheduled. Several current members of the Executive are considering reducing their involvement with the Club due to other personal commitments and dependant on how many club members are willing to share some of the workload of the executive by being active volunteers.

 2005 memberships will be available for purchase at this meeting. This will be your only opportunity to purchase a 2005 membership at the present 2004 rate.

 The lock on the gate will be changed on December 31, 2004. In the event that the AGM is postponed, new keys will not be issued until a new Executive is elected.

 2004 MINUTES are posted on the website. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the events of 2004 by reviewing the meeting minutes.

 Volunteering can be a fun and rewarding experience. For those that truly do step up to the plate, the benefits can also include free membership, racing and other types of incentives along with the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping your Club and doing your part to ensure motocross in our area continues long into the future.

 Refreshments and snacks will be provided.

We will also be presenting the 2003 KX 85 to the top bidder of the Nanaimo Motocross Association’s Silent Auction. Thank you to Spunky’s Motorcycle Shop and Kawasaki Canada for donation of this bike to the Club. The on-line auction is being held on this website and bids will be accepted until December 15th at 10:00pm. Please see bidding details.

Please see below for a listing of the Executive and Support positions that need to be filled for 2005. If you would like to know more about these opportunities, please contact Bart McGuire at 468-9636 for further information.  We encourage you to get involved!

If you are not able to attend the meeting, but have an issue or concern that you would like to raise, please contact the Rider Representative, Regan Morben at 642-2622 or nanaimomx@telus.net.

If you wish to purchase your membership at the AGM, applications will be available. The 2004 membership rates will be guaranteed at the Annual General Meeting only. We have not yet discussed the 2005 membership rates and whether there will be an increase.

Just wondering...

Did any of you forgive Bob for not proof reading his e-mails and call to help at the supercross? Email me and let me know , if you don't mind.

Is anyone interested in the chat room? Have you tried it? Email me  and let me know.

For those of you that don't already know, if you go to NMA Rider Profiles you can click on a few of the riders names that I've managed to obtain images of and see images of your friends.  Plus, Click on my name and see my newest production (.....drum roll....) "A Year at The wastelands" featuring big o'l me! and all the video captured this year of riding.  It actually is a dumb name because I just realized that I am at PA for portions of the epic. so...I'll have to re-think the title but you should check it out and others  by clicking on the blue underlined text any where on this site (except this example). Download times will be variable but for cable/ADSL users none of the clips/photo's on this site should take longer than 1 min to load.

And by all means if you have clips or photos of you or another member on the NMA member list, Email them to me.

2004 Island Motocross Awards Banquet.

The awards banquet went smoothly. The hall was the perfect size! Thanks to Lori and Ron Dolan for choosing the perfect place to have this event. There was a lot of setting up, but many hands made light work. I am sorry for the dark images but the light was poor and I need a flash. Gorden Wood from Digital Works was there and I'm sure he'll have far better photos. The most noticeable thing about the dinner was the quality family environment. There was a Movie Theater for the kids to watch MX videos. Not everyone behaved though.  Some people were annoying, some oddly quiet,  Dinner was great in my expert opinion, but over far too quickly.  We  had just under 190 place settings and had lots of different people to fill them. Nice to see some took time off from hiding from the government. Sharie, Melissa , Joan got the awards sorted out and then it was time for Bart to do some heavy lifting.  The thing I realized most was that you can't make everyone happy all the time. The second thing I realized, is that everyone smiles when they win a door prize.

Chat Room added.

Have fun with this but keep it mature kids. I'll get Bart to call your parents if you get out of hand.

To use it: go to our Contact Us page and enter your user name. Eventually I'll  make button for it on main menu.
